Humans of New York & The World
There’s a great photography and social experiment on Facebook right now. So good that it’s one of the main reason why I still have a Facebook account. The project is called “Humans of New York” and was started by a photographer name Brandon who was living in the Big Apple when he began his project. He wanted to catalogue his fellow New Yorkers but everything took on a new direction when he added a short anecdote next to his picture. They were nothing more than bits of conversation between Brandon and his subject, but somehow they can produce such a profound story in just a couple sentences. Now on a world tour, his snapshots of those in war-torn Iraq to South Sudan offer new glimpses to the lives of those in countries we often hear about on the news but rarely get the full story. I encourage you to check out his Facebook page as well where beside the great images and stories, you’ll also find lots of encouraging and faith-in-humanity restoring comments below every image.
Above are a few images I’ve coupled with their respective quotes. Theses were the ones that spoke to me for one reason or another, but I’m sure you’ll find your own favorite heart touching stories on his page. Naturally, all images belongs to Brandon and Humans of New York.
